Out of the Abundance of the Heart

Why Do We Read?

I often call to my mind the moving scene in the movie, Shadowlands, where C.S. Lewis is conversing with one of his pupils at Oxford and he says to the young man,“We read to know that we are not alone.  Do you think that is so?”   The young man responds, “Well, I hadn’t thought of it before like that sir.”  C.S. Lewis thoughtfully answers, “No, nor did I….”Truly, God has given us His written word to convince us of this glorious fact.

We are not alone

I was at walking around at CREW on Sunday night, greeting the young people I knew, and was introduced by Charlie to a new young woman in the church named Minerva. Charlie is a leader of the Spanish Fellowship that meets on Saturday Evenings at CF. He has such a heart for people and many of you have enjoyed seeing him show us how to really “Salsa” dance.
