The solution to all your problems.
It’s a bold claim to say that I’m going to tell you the solution to all your problems, but I am. There is one thing that can take away all your worry; all your fear; all your striving to do better, be better, be the best; all your dissatisfaction with life and all your restlessness; basically, every “issue” that bugs you. Are you ready to hear it?
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
It’s as simple as that. From the moment we acknowledge God exists and that we need Him, we are headed in the right direction. But until we see God as the END, the goal, the ONE in which all we could ever need or desire is not only met, but IS, we will still be looking elsewhere to fill the void that only He can fill.
“In repentance and rest is your salvation. In quietness and confidence is your strength.” Isaiah 30:15
There is no one and nothing like God. HE IS THE END OF ALL THINGS. What do I mean by that? Having just read Roy and Revel Hession’s book We Would See Jesus, I am also learning what this means and am (sadly) no expert. From what they write and I understand, to see Jesus as the end is to seek Him for Himself alone and not for what He can do for us.
“Duh,” you may say at this point. “Who asked you to blog on here?” Okay, yes that is an obvious point, but if we examine our lives – even those of us in ministry – we will see that too often we seek God when we have a sermon or teaching to prepare, but after it’s over we take a day off. We seek God in prayer for specific needs and for anointing to do our work, but we don’t just spend time hanging out with Jesus like we would a good friend. When we do this we are seeking Him for what He can give us to give to others, and maybe even for Him to fill us up, but not really for Himself.
It’s subtle sometimes, this way we use Jesus as a means to an end rather than seeing Him as the END. But even using Him as a means to good ends is using Him – and who likes to be used? Don’t you want someone to hang out with you just because they like you? Jesus wants that too. And when we do that we please Him and all our problems are solved. Really. Because when Jesus is our goal and we realize that we have Him 24/7, what have we got to worry or fret over, or strive for? Nothing.
Be still and know that He is GOD. And have a great day!
