From Thailand to Haiti by Kris Repp

Tuesday, March 15th 2011

My last 2 weeks in Thailand are spent in Chiang Mai, one of the 4 cities in Thailand known for its booming industry in prostitution and human trafficking. My guesthouse is located at the end of a row of bars in the red-light district. I have to literally walk past the "activity" to get to work at the after school care facility where almost 30 children come daily for refuge off of the streets. My heart breaks to hear the stories...it is a culture I don't understand: where children are sold to strangers and beautiful young girls sell their bodies to provide income for their extended families. My prayers continue for those precious children who are so vulnerable among the predators and the young adults who find themselves victimized by the system.

I leave for Haiti on Wednesday. I plan to work in collaboration with Calvary Chapel in Port-Au-Prince ministering to the people who are continuing to recover from the disastrous outcome of last year's earthquake, cholera epidemic and political violence. Please pray that as the elections finalize, they will come to a peaceful resolution of political differences and that Christ will show His love through His children to those who don't know Him.

In His arms of love -Kris
